Successful in Kühlungsborn!

10.05. - 12.05.2019
Every time I take part in the Baltic Sea Plein Air Festival, I enjoy it a lot. In the beautiful Ostseebad Kühlungsborn art lovers from all over Germany and beyond meet to participate in workshops or painting competition. This year there were over 40 outdoor painting participants. I hope I can be back next year. I was particularly pleased by the interest of the yacht owner, who had the image of his yacht reserved directly on site.

Following the traces of Thomas Mann I travelled to Munich and Venice for my diploma thesis and made a two-by-two-metre wheel object. The individual stratifications of ideas on which the novel "Death in Venice" is based, I transfered for this experimental object into a pictorial language. Artistic photographs and an artist book with a bookcase complete the ensemble.

"Frank Hennings interpretation of "Death in Venice", written by Thomas Mann in 1911, shows impressively the artistic confrontation with literature and wants to enable a closer look at the beauty of this work."

"An eye-catcher of the exhibition..."

Kunst Schimmer 6

21. - 29.04.2018
Our successful opening gala of the art fair Kunstschimmer 6 took place in the foyer of the Ulmer Donauhalle. A jazz sextet from Switzerland - Alain's Tonejuice - accompanied the evening. During the art fair, I not only had the opportunity to paint in the beautiful city park en plein air, but also had a sale on the last day :-).

art` pu:l 2017

A week ago I had the pleasure to take part at the art`pu:l - fair for contemporary art in the Walzwerk Pulheim. Many thanks go to the organizer, because of the good organisation, advertising and opening! Curiously, the back wall of my fair booth was the studio backdrop of Horst Lichter`s TV-show "Bares für Rares" :-)

Ostsee Plein Air Festival 2017

On the 11th and 12th of may I was pleased to join the Ostsee Pleinair Festival in Kühlungsborn. More than 50 artists from all over Germany and Switzerland met in Kühlungsborn and took part at the competition. The first place was prized with 1000 €. Franz Kröger, the director of the Kunsthalle, told me after the award ceremony, that I shared the fourth place with two other artists. Really great paintings were created within the short time, that were exhibited in the Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn afterwards and on which every participant can be proud of. The vernissage was complemented by the marvellous piano playing of a young pianist: She played Chopin and Bartok. Many thanks to the Schweriner Hof, that supported me with coffee and cake during the competition!

Pleinair-Malerei in the Rhein-Sieg area

At the moment I´m working on plein air paintings in the Rhein-Sieg area. It`s a lot of fun to paint outside.
